About
The tools the industry relies on, run by the team that builds them.
Valitheus is the health IT division of Prometheus Computing: the certification and validation tools the industry tests against, built at NIST.
Built at NIST
The Valitheus fleet began at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where these tools were engineered to give the health IT industry a common, rigorous yardstick: if a message passes here, it conforms. Immunization registries, syndromic surveillance programs, laboratory networks, and EHR vendors have certified against them ever since.
Delivered by Prometheus
Today the fleet is operated and supported directly by Prometheus Computing (opens in new tab), the engineering firm behind much of the original work. The same people who write the validation logic run the servers, answer the support requests, and ship the updates. No handoffs, no middlemen.
Why “Valitheus”
Valere, Latin for “to be strong, to be well,” gives us both valid and value, and valetudo, health. The -theus closes Prometheus, the company that gave humanity its tools.
